So you've had a bad day
I found this blog today and it lifted my spirits so I thought I would share it with everyone I know in case you are needing the same boost. It is always refreshing to me to find other women out in the world that are feeling the same way I do and are going through the same things I am. Anyways, I really liked what this mom had to say. If you are having one of those days, weeks, or in my case, months check it out. And even if you're not, one day you might have one of those days, so you should check it out too.
Love it!
Today while I was putting Carson down for a nap, I came downstairs and this is what I found. Hailey was teaching Emma how to read! She would read a word and then Emma would repeat the word. I love this time that they get to spend together since we are homeschooling and all of the learning and teaching opportunities they each have to spend with me and each other!
Mmmm.... Spaghetti Squash!
So Sunday was the first time I have ever made spaghetti squash and boy was it tasty! We roasted it for about 40 mins at 400 degrees, shredded the flesh, and then topped them with marinara sauce and some cheese. It tasted like pasta! We told the girls it was pasta in a boat and they loved it! It was super filling though and Robb and I could have probably shared just a half.

The Finer Things Club!
So if you are not into the show The Office or have never seen the show this post will not make much sense. We LOVE The Office! We miss not being around the Smith's to watch it. I especially miss it when something happens to Jim and Pam and I get excited and Katie is not there to share in the excitement, but oh well. So in honor of The Office starting back up today I made a special dinner and titled in The Finer Things Club. We had "finger lickin' good" sandwiches and caesar salad wraps and chocolate mouse pies for dinner. We drank apple juice out of a tea pot and Robb and I shared sparkling apple cider. Very refined, I know. It was fun and the kids just thought we were having a "very fun dinner", but Robb and I knew better. We had started our own branch of The Finer Things Club!

I love Costco!
I LOVE COSTCO! Everything is bigger at Costco! Including their pizza. I love that we can feed our whole family for under five bucks and feel incredibly full. Today was a Costco day and I treated the kids (and myself) to a HUGE slice of pizza. All day long Hailey was saying, "Mom, today was a great day!" All in reference to having pizza at Costco. It doesn't get any better than that!

Air Show
We are really lucky that whenever there is an air show in town we have an awesome view of them practicing. Today we could hear them while we were doing school so we went outside to watch and they ended up flying directly over our house. It was awesome! Carson loved the noise and the girls, well, not so much! Here are some pics and a video! If you turn up the volume you can kind of get an idea of how loud they were.
Interesting Thought! HMMMMM.....
So I just saw this on another friends blog and busted up laughing. I am completely 100% all about breastfeeding, if able, but this is something I am not to sure about! You HAVE to read this! http://www.wptz.com/news/17539127/detail.html
You'll understand what I am talking about when you read the article! Tell me your feelings. I'd be really interested to see what other people think.

Packaging
So I received another package today for home school and it came in this huge box. I had to laugh when I opened it though because all that was in this huge box was a notebook, a few reading books, and little itty bitty tiles. The remainder was all of this plastic air pocket stuff. If I were way into going "Green" I would be livid! Good thing I am not that sensitive to that, because I was in need of a good laugh today! Hehehehehe! :)
Our little walker
This video is mostly for the grandparents. They have been curious about Carson's walking abilities. So here you go, but I have to warn you he bashes his head at the end. No major brain damage was incurred that we know of yet, but again just a warning.

Funny
So I was sitting on the computer just now and all of a sudden Hailey started crying. I thought maybe she had fallen out of bed or something. Well, Robb went up to check on her and came down chuckling. He said that the girls had been laying in bed together and Hailey had been teaching Emma how to read and then fell asleep. Well Hailey was crying because Emma wouldn't answer her. She must have fallen asleep and then woken up thinking she should still be reading with her sister and then got mad because Emma (who was fast asleep) wouldn't read with her. Pretty cute!
Family Home Evening
We had a really fun family night, tonight! We did a scripture treasure hunt! We talked about how there are many treasures to be found in the scriptures when we read them, but tonight there was an actually treasure. There were different clues hidden throughout the house and each clue led to another clue and then ended with a treasure. The girls ran like crazy with Carson trailing behind trying to keep up. :) We told them if they weren't fast that pirates would come and get the treasure before they got to it. They loved that so they hurried even faster. So here are some pics of the fun event . . .
Here is daddy reading a clue from the scriptures

and yet another clue in mommy and daddy's room . . .

Looking for the treasure under mommy and daddy's bed . . .

Here is Hailey, giddy with excitement . . .
One of the clues on the
tree out front . . .
Another clue in one of the pots in the
kitchen . . .
Hailey with one of the next clues . . .
Looking for a clue behind the couch in the living room . . .
I wonder what's inside?
Mmmm.... chocolates and other goodies. Here they are eating a piece of chocolate! Emma, after putting a chocolate in her mouth said, "mmm, tasty!" Gotta love it!
Caterpillar Fun
On Saturday we found a little caterpillar on our driveway so we picked it up and put in on the tree in our front yard. This was really exciting for the girls because we just did a literature unit on a caterpillar poem last week. Hailey loved it, but Emma wasn't so sure. Here are a couple of pics . . .

Canning!
On Friday I canned peaches for the first time! Actually it was my first time canning anything. A lady at our church taught me how and then gave us a whole box of peaches she had left over from her peach tree. So here are the peaches . . .
Here is Robb adding Vitamin C to the water to keep the peaches from browning . . .

Here is the simple syrup cooking and a pot of boiling water to pour over the peaches to make them easier to peel!
This was the tricky part. When I opened the canning pot it said not to use on glass top stoves, which we have. Of course, I didn't discover this until after I had already started the whole process. So we were thinking like crazy trying to figure out what to do. Then we remembered our grill has a big burner on the side. YEAH!!! It worked great!
Here they are bubblin' away . . .
And here's the finished product . . .
And of course we used the left overs to make a peach crisp! YUMMO!

The best place EVER!
I love target! Well . . . so many of you wanted to know where I got that wonderful detergent! There is your answer! Wonderful, amazing, Target! It comes in many different scents, but I picked pink grapefruit because I love pink! So there is your answer. Hopefully it works out for you as well as it does for me!

Things I am thankful for . . . Today!

Quote for the day
So I have been trying to organize our house for two reasons.
1. We have a crazy baby boy on the loose
2. We started homeschooling (if interested our homeschool link is on the sidebar)
I always like to try and be organized, but sometimes it is difficult. Especially with a husband who hates to throw anything away and kids who even though they haven't seen a certain toy or even thought about it for months see you go to get rid of it and suddenly it is their most prized possession. Well today I saw this quote and thought it really applied to me today . . .
"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful." - William Morris
So hopefully this will inspire me in my never ending quest to be more organized!
Another busy boy moment!
Today I was trying to get our homeschooling classroom a.k.a. the dining room, organized and I heard some rustling. Here is what I found! He must have been hungry. I leave this little basket of snacks that I pre-portion for the girls so that they can easily grab a snack for themselves. Well, he managed to get open a bag of fish crackers and had a little snack! But look how how happy he is! He thought he was so funny. How could I get mad?
