For the past couple of weeks I have been organizing a homeschool fieldtrip to the pumpkin patch! We had a pretty good turn out and had a lot of fun. For $3 you got to go through the hay maze, corn maze, climb two of the hay pyramids, pet the animals, go on a hay ride, get a pumpkin, and got a cookie with juice. I thought that was an awesome deal! The kids were a little disappointed they couldn't find a square pumpkin named Spookly (this is one of their favorite halloween movies)but they did end up finding the perfect pumpkins. Carson enjoyed eating everything from the pumpkins to the straw and needless to say he was one dirty boy by the end of the trip. If you notice the last picture in the blog you will see what I mean! Just kidding . . . that's the pig we saw! But as far as filthyness goes it was a close tie!

LOVE this book
If you haven't read this book or even heard of this book and you are a mother you need to get this book! It is the sweetest book and so true to what us mom's go through on a day to day basis. A lady at our church wrote and shared it with the little kids last Sunday. It pretty much brought a tear to everyones eye. And if you notice she has the same first and middle name as me. We joke that we both totally ROCK because of that . . . her words not mine! :) Anyways, just wanted to share one of my favorites. If I were Oprah it would so be on the My Favorites christmas show this year! :)

Another Proposition 8 video!
I know I have already posted about this, but I saw this video on a friends blog and couldn't resist posting it. Sorry I have not posted in a while . . . still trying to resolve the car thing . . . which seems to take up a lot of time! Anyways, back to the movie! I just feel so strongly about this and I really enjoyed this guys stance on Proposition 8. I have no intention on offending anyone in anyway, this is just how I feel. Feel free to let me know how you feel, but again, I in no way mean to offend anyone. Just letting you know . . .

Anatomy Lesson :)
So this morning we were lying in bed with all of the kids and Carson was being silly and climbing all over and Hailey very sweetly said "Carson has a piggy tail on his bum, doesn't he?" It took me a minute to register what she had said and then I realized what she was talking about. I couldn't help but chuckle a little. Now I know you are thinking she should probably know these terms by now, but I kind of feel that when she is ready or shows signs of curiosity that I would then take the opportunity to address it then. I mean she definitely knows that there is a difference between boys and girls, but when changing Carson's diaper she has never said anything to the effect of "what's that mom?" or anything, so I just figured she wasn't ready. So this morning after this comment I felt that she was mature enough to handle the more mature terms, if you catch my drift. So I took her aside by herself and explained what the real deal is! She was very sweet about the whole thing. Anyways, just thought it was cute story that I thought I would share!

Oh my goodness!
I could not believe this when I saw this! This video brought up two HUGE issues for me.
1)Marriage is and should remain a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. It scares me to even think about what our nation would become if this sacredness is removed. For those of us that belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, what would become of our sacred and special temple sealings. It makes me sick to even have to think of it . . .
2)The second issue that this video brought to mind was the indoctrination of our children in schools. Now granted this isn't something that is being taught in our school district, but if it was passed they would probably incorporate it into the curriculum. I also thought that if issues like this are being taught in schools in other states what are they teaching in the schools in my state that I am not even aware of? What kind of things are they indoctrinating in the minds of kids in our area? And maybe a third issue is what gives the state the right to take away my rights as a parent. I should be the one to determine if something is right or wrong for my child. As Dr. Heath Cliff Huxtable said on the Cosby Show, "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out!" J/K! But you get my point, right? After watching this video I again became very grateful for my decision to homeschool.
What to do? :)
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas! For those of you that know my husband he is an amazing man whom I love dearly, but enough is enough! He has a serious problem. He has these sleep episodes. In the course of our six year marriage I have been thrown out of bed, punched, talked to in a Harry Potter accent, found pieces of furniture in different places than they were the day before, found pillows by the front door, the list goes on. Well last night was another one of those nights. He kept trying to leave somewhere and then get mad at me when he couldn't go. Then he came and sat on the edge of the bed right next to me and insisted that is was his side of the bed. There were many other things that happened, but I will spare you the details. All I can say is that I'm TIRED!!! I have tried to get him to go to a sleep clinic, but he never seems to make it there. I have thought of bringing a club to bed, but I really do love the guy and don't really want to hurt him, but common! Enough is Enough! Just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences and/or suggestions! Most of the time it's pretty funny, but other times it's like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! What to do? What to do?

Blackberries!
So I am trying to play catch up from our vacation so I will start with this. Here are Robb and Hailey picking blackberries at my mom's house. We were supposed to take them to Robb's parents house to make a pie, but we forgot them. Hopefully they did something with them. But they had fun picking them anyways!

Tag, I'm it!
So I've been tagged! Thanks Katie! So here is the picture I found. This is my sweet husband and our oldest daughter Hailey! She must have been just over a year old when this was taken. Why won't she sleep like that now? I mean I know she's five, but come on! She just doesn't like to sleep. Oh well, at least we have the memory of her sleeping! :)
I tag Rebecca (my sister-in-law), Rebecca (my cousin), Jeff or Mary, and Amanda. Here are the instructions. Go to the fourth file on your computer and post the fourth picture on that file and tell a little bit about the picture! Good luck!

Cookie Dough
I have to admit that my kids have NEVER tasted cookie dough or any other batter for that matter containing raw eggs! For those that know me well, I am a huge germ-a-phobe. So the thought of my kids getting salmonella poisoning has never been worth it for me to let them have any. Lately, though, I feel that for some reason or another they are missing out on a right as a kid to eat cookie dough. So I made up an egg free cookie dough and they were finally able to partake of a kids "right of passage"! And it was tasty . . . you'd never miss the egg! I am sure that I am probably making a weaker generation by not exposing them to such things as raw eggs, but I don't really care. The thought just grosses me out way to much! So here is the "cookie dough".

The tent
Emma got this tent for her birthday and ever since both of the girls have been sleeping in it every night. Hailey is the one who enjoys it the most though. It is set up in their room and usually sometime in the middle of the night Emma gets up and goes to sleep in her bed, which is followed by a crying Hailey saying "Emma won't sleep in the tent. I want her to sleep in the tent." But, she quickly calms down and goes back to sleep. I actually don't mind them sleeping in the tent, because they actually get excited to go to bed and ask to go to bed. You better believe I am going to milk that for all it's worth!
The Goats are Back!
For us, Fall means the returning of the goats! Every Fall the pasture brings in goats to the pasture right behind the house and the kids love it! This year it has been neat because in addition they have added a llama. If memory serves me right there is still an outstanding bet that needs to be taken care of regarding the milking of a goat! You know who you are . . .

Happy Birthday Emma!
Today was Emma's third birthday! I can't believe she is three years old. She is such an awesome little person. She is so smart and always makes us laugh, even if she's not meaning too. She is always sensitive to how other people are feeling and wants to help whenever she can. Happy Birthday Emma, we love you so much!
Here are some pics from our little family birthday party . . .

Here are the doughnuts that daddy bought for breakfast this morning.
Here is Hailey making a birthday sign for her sister while Emma was taking a nap. She wanted to surprise her when she woke up!
We blew up a bunch of balloons and the kids had a blast playing with them
Emma wanted pizza for dinner so here she is eating her cheese and sundried tomato pizza
Opening presents is always fun. Here is the soccer ball that daddy picked out. She also got new clothes, a tent with sleeping bag, and coloring books and stickers from her cousins Sarah, Nathan and Jane. Thanks cousins!
Here are the kids playing in the tent. Hailey kept calling the tent her's and Emma would lovingly tell her "No, Hailey! It's my birthday, not yours!"
Carson loved it! He kept going in and bouncing up and down and clapping his hands.
Here is Emma's birthday cake! She wanted Little Einstiens.
Happy Birthday Emma! Love you more than you will ever know!
Grape Juice
Today I learned how to can grape juice! A lady at church grows her own grapes and had a ton, so she taught me how to make my own grape juice and can it. She let me taste some, too. SO GOOD!! So while at her house I canned 12 jars and then she sent me home with a huge box full and she said in should yield close to 30 jars of juice. How awesome is that? So you know what I'll be doing tomorrow. Can't wait!
Fun Night!
Last night I got to go out with some friends and go to a polka pepper party. You get to pick out any kind of flower you want and then they have little buttons on the back that you can interchange with clips, headbands, or rubberbands so I got a couple for the girls. Then we went out to Red Robin and laughed and laughed and came home with my face in pain because I laughed so much. This is why I didn't have a post yesterday because I didn't get back till really late. I have been trying to post everyday, but everyone needs a break every now and then, right? Oh . . . and while I was out at Red Robin, guess what happened? I got up to leave and a huge black widow spider fell off my leg! AAAHHHH!!!! I was shaking I was so scared! I have seen one before and killed it but I have never had one on me before! Hopefully never again!
