CVI and WAVA

I just have to express how excited I am about these two programs for home schoolers.  Ever since I made the decision I have never felt more right about anything... well except for marrying Robb!! ;) When I first started thinking about home school I was really nervous about coming up with my own material and worried about my kids falling behind.   I was also worried about the social aspect of things and was worried about them not getting those important contacts and experiences that would help them later on in life.  Well with CVI and WAVA my prayers have been answered.  YEAH!!!  WAVA gives you all the curriculum. . .  for free!!  So everything is laid out for me.  Plus if we plan it right, if we finish the material by the end of March they will send you the next years materials so you can get a head start.  How great is that?!  Then with CVI whatever curriculum I don't want to use with WAVA, CVI will pay for.  AMAZING!!!  So I will be able to put her in this Spanish class for 5 year olds that she otherwise wouldn't be able to do if she was enrolled in traditional school and she could take swim, dance, or gymnastics and have that count as P.E.  LOVE IT!!!  So  through those programs she can meet other people and still make friends without enrolling her in school.  I also love that with CVI that when Emma starts school she will be able to start early.  Her birthday is in October so normally she would have to wait a full year to start school, but with CVI she only has to wait a month until after her 5th birthday!  Again, AMAZING!!!  Anyways, I just had to share my excitement with the blogging world.  Happy Friday, everyone!

Crazy!

I saw this and couldn't believe it.  This is the latest toy recall list.  It would take forever to read each and every recall.  Anyways, just thought that it was blog worthy!  http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/toy.html

Free Movie!

I love this!  There is this smoothie place in town that every friday and saturday offers a free movie.  Friday is family night and then saturday is date night.  It's great!  We went and saw alvin and the chipmunks.  Now normally we wouldn't have gone to see this movie and now having seen it I am glad we didn't pay to see it, but it was fun to see it outside and it was FREE!  They even had a bouncer for the kids and they had ice cream and popcorn.  It was really fun and this friday we will be seeing the Bee Movie!  Can't wait!!!

To Homeschool or not to homeschool!

That is the big question going on right now in our house.  I have been thinking about this a lot lately as our oldest will be going into kindergarten in the fall.  I really want to be part of a co-op that meets once a week that way she can get the social interaction that she really needs.  The area we live in though doesn't seem to have that many options.  So then I go back and forth again between public or homeschool.  Today though I just found out that our state is considering taking away the option of homeschool!!!  What!?  I couldn't believe it!  This statement alone makes me want to do homeschool just so I can fight for the right to make my own choices for my children being a parent!  The state wants to take over my right as a parent and I am not o.k. with that!!!  Do they stay up at night with my kids when they are sick?  How about potty training?  When they scrape their knee does the state offer them their favorite Barbie sticker and give them a hug and kiss to make it feel better?  I don't think so!  Now I know that there are kids who don't have as nice of a family situation that might need help, but I just don't think that it's right to take away the rights of everyone because of those situations.  Am I wrong in thinking this?  O.k. I guess I just needed to vent!  Sorry for those of you who were suckered into reading this!  Leave a response if you feel as strongly as I do so maybe I can have some sense of comfort and if you don't feel the same let me know too.  Maybe I am just being silly, but I feel my rights as a parent are slowly slipping away.  That's all for now!

More Scrapbooking

O.k.!  This is totally addicting!  I might have to make a whole separate blog just for scrapping!  Anyways, I am having to much fun!

Any tips???

So here is my first attempt at digital scrapbooking.  It is really fun, but just wondering if anyone has any tips.  I think I could really get into this.  I love all the free stuff you can find online and you don't have to keep a whole separate room just for scrapbooking stuff.  Anyways, if you have any tips let me know!

I have decided to start my own recipe blog.  When I feel I have put in enough recipes in I will make a book!   All the recipes on this blog will be taste tested by myself and my kids.  Feel free to try them and leave any comments as to how to improve them.  The link is on the side bar titled Our Family's Favorite Recipes!
