The finished project!!!

This is my latest project. I think it turned out pretty good for my first furniture build. I wish I could say it was SUPER difficult, but it really wasn't. The longest part was painting, antiquing, and polyurethaning it. If you want to get into furniture building check out this website http://www.knockoffwood.blogspot.com/
I got the plans from there and I am already planning on building a shelf next and then maybe an entertainment center. If you are curious about cost, it cost roughly around $120 for wood and supplies. A HUGE savings compared to the original pottery barn version which is I think around $1600, not including shipping.
I can't wait to start my next project! Now if I could just figure out what color to paint our bedroom it would look a million times better in there. Any suggestions?

Wow is all I have to say about the amazingness of the bed!! :) I like burgundy on walls, but sometimes it's too bold or whatever. One look that I really like is the textured wall paint job. I don't know how hard that would be, but here's a picture of something close to what I'm thinking about: (The third picture from the bottom on the right side with a little table that has a lot of pictures on it.) http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://emmas-room.com/images/Marble_Wall.gif&imgrefurl=http://emmas-room.com/products4.htm&usg=__rPjMNPQu2ud_t5LPiJiuvXKetXU=&h=325&w=299&sz=75&hl=en&start=9&sig2=BIbEH5Q1fCQCKxcEZh_TPQ&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=kwLH-YlDUD6MhM:&tbnh=118&tbnw=109&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwall%2Bpaint%2Bdesigns%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-ca%26um%3D1&ei=R3lvS43CJ4vWNIS4xdUE (Sorry, long link!!) It looked way better at one of my Aunt's houses, though...

A light taupe color, on the cooler side... with maybe some accents in a dark cool brown. You could get wall decals instead of painting an accent color. You can find them all sorts of places but here's an example of what I was picturing...

There are millions of choices and a lot of them can be in your choice of color.

I definitely think it needs to be some color in the cooler ranger, not warm.

Wow, I am super impressed. I want a bed like that! You make it sound so easy, too, but we're dangerous over here wielding tools...fixing computers is more our game. :) We just painted our master bedroom a light cream on two walls and the prettiest slate blue on the other two walls. I am in LOVE with it. The color is called Autumn Fog at Lowes in the Valspar paint. It looks grey on the paint swatch, but on the wall it's the prettiest blue.
