So many people have asked me what we use for homeschool. Right now we use K 12. The curriculum is awesome. My favorite is math. It is really well laid out and is not trying to reinvent the wheel like so many public schools are trying to do. Another favorite is that the lesson plan is all laid out for you each and every day. I simply DO NOT have the time to come up with a lesson plan for every day. Nor do I want to spend my entire day doing school, and I don't. As for extra art projects that we do I usually come up with that on my own. This is where Google comes in handy. I will just type in what we are studying in language arts and add art project at the end of the search and come up with ideas that way. K12 can be expensive, but there are many states that offer it via virtual academy's for FREE. We live in Washington State so the virtual academy that we are in is called WAVA. I highly recommend starting out this way because you are given a teacher that can help you with questions you have and helps you stay on track. But now that I know how it works and have got a system down I am considering getting out of the virtual academy. Helpful as it is there are some things that are a little annoying. We are very far ahead in the material, like a year and a half ahead, and if we miss a day or two of the curriculum they get pretty "huffy" about it. And there are weekly contacts that the student has to have with the teacher and then once a month conferences that, at least for me, is just one extra thing to think about. If your kids are older than it's not that big of a deal, because they do that all on their own. But for younger kids the parent is the one doing it all.
Overall, it's an awesome resource for homeschool, especially if you don't know how to get started. It gets you pointed in the right direction and then depending on how you feel you can go from there.
Hope that helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Hey Heather,
As always, I'm impressed and proud of your mother/womanly/homeschool skills :). Are we gonna be seeing you? Let me know. I'm SO excited!
hello!! Thank you for showing yourself in the blogging world! You have a darling post as well, I was just thinking how dumb I was at the wedding- I didn't even ask you about your kids or anything, I don't think I've ever formaly met them- so I'm very glad for this blog where I can finally see them! You have a darling family- it was good to see you last weekend!
Danny is just finishing up 8th grade with WAVA. In general I really like their curriculum - my favorite is World History...I think Danny's favorite is vocabulary...my least favorite subject is Science - sometimes the experiments are challenging to figure out(being married to an engineer helps out a lot here).
